Elena is a beautiful mountain town in the countryside situated about 38km away from Veliko Tarnovo which is known for its wonderful historical monuments and most picturesque location. This lovely little town has played a significant part in the Bulgarian history, especially during the time of the Bulgarian National Revival from 18-19th century, by giving birth to some of the most prominent figures of this movement.
